Charlotte L. Werstler, 77, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1934 in North Webster, Ind., to Keith and Verna (Amsden) Smith. She married Eldon L. Werstler on Dec. 31, 1953, in Fort Wayne, who preceded her in death on March 2, 2005.
Formerly of Syracuse and Pierceton, Charlotte moved to Warsaw in 1963. She was a former telephone operator, was employed by Sun Metal of Warsaw as a machine operator and was a bus driver for Warsaw Community Schools for over 20 years.
Charlotte was a member of the Women of the Moose, Warsaw Moose Lodge, and American Legion Auxiliary, Post 49, Warsaw. She was also a member of Rozella Ford Golf Course and played in the Women’s League. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Warsaw and was an avid doll collector, antiques collector, oil painter and enjoyed many other crafts. Charlotte was an accomplished euchre player.
Charlotte is survived by a daughter: Teresa (Greg) Oberlin, Warsaw; two grandchildren: Kayla and Justin Oberlin, both of Warsaw; and two brothers: Jack (Loretta) Smith, Pierceton; and Jerry (Jackie) Smith, Leesburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Don.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2012 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor E.J. Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the funeral chapel.
