Triton SportsBOURBON – Triton raised some eyebrows early, but Southwood settled in to pull away for a 54-20 football win in Class 1-A Sectional 43 action.

Jeremy Jones put the Trojans on the board right away with a 60-yard touchdown run. Southwood, however, responded with four touchdowns in the first quarter and 34 straight points before the Trojans could get back on the board.

Jon Berlier had three touchdowns in the first quarter on jaunts of two, four and 95 yards, and would lead the Knights with 174 yards rushing. Berlier also found the endzone in the second half.

Carson Blair threw three touchdown passes and ran for another as the Knights piled up 539 total yards. Blair had 251 yards in the air and another 40 on the ground. Zach Ball, Jeffrey Finicle and Peyton Trexler all caught touchdown passes.

Jones would end his Trojan career on a high note, rushing for 190 yards on just 18 carries. Jones added second-half scoring runs of 66 and 46 yards. Triton had 215 yards in the game, 204 of which were on the ground and only 14 from anyone not named Jeremy Jones.

The Trojans close out its season 2-8 overall. Southwood (7-3) advances to play Northfield (5-5), a 48-0 winner against Caston.
