Martha Jane “Babe” Beery, 87, Rochester, passed away in comfort at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
She was born on Nov. 21, 1927, in Grass Creek, the daughter of John and Vernice (Oliver) McLochlin. She was a Grass Creek High School graduate. On Dec. 20, 1949, she married Wayne Tyler Beery at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kewanna. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1999. Jane continued to live in the comfort of her home since her husband’s passing in December 2007.
Jane was a homemaker and an office worker at the Rochester Sale Barn, the Fulton County Clerk’s Office and a local bank. She was a lifetime resident of Fulton County and a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Rochester. Jane was very proud of the “McLochlin” family’s Irish farming heritage and thankful for all of their love and support over the past several years.
Jane will be greatly missed by her son: Robert (Amy) Beery (a 1974 RHS graduate); granddaughter: Erin Beery, Littleton, Colo.; and grandson: Patrick Beery, Denver, Colo.; sister: Dorothy Warfield, Kewanna; and her loving caregiver: Angie Courtney, Bass Lake. Jane “Babe” will be fondly remembered by her many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Kewanna, with the Rev. Bert Woolson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, and from 8:45-9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. A prayer service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery, Kewanna.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Kewanna.
