NLC Formally Issues Early All-NLC Lists

NLC SportsGOSHEN – The Northern Lakes Conference has officially released four of the eight sports’ lists for the All-NLC teams for the 2015 fall season. Girls golf and boys tennis as well as boys and girls cross country all have long since concluded their tournaments, but now are formally being introduced to the public. The lists for boys and girls soccer, volleyball and football will be forthcoming later this fall.

Girls Golf had NorthWood, led by Coach of the Year Adam Yoder, run 7-0 and win the NLC tournament. The Panthers had four make the All-NLC list, led by senior Linnzie Richner, along with Summer Stillson, Madison Richner and Mackenzie Weaver. Wawasee, which was second at 5-2 and second at the NLC, had Kylee Rostochak and Aubrey Schmeltz make All-NLC while Mikala Mawhorter take Honorable Mention All-NLC.

Plymouth was third in the conference and had Miranda Dunn and Morgan Oberley take All-NLC and Katie Johnson earn Honorable Mention All-NLC. Warsaw’s Madi Graham and Concord’s Erika Shirley were both named Honorable Mention All-NLC.

Boys Tennis saw Plymouth storm through a 7-0 regular season and then edge Goshen for the NLC tournament title. Coach of the Year Mike Delp’s Pilgrims had No. 1 singles player John Hunter as well as No. 2 doubles Grant Clady and Nick Felke all land All-NLC spots. No. 2 singles John Gerard take At-Large All-NLC. Braydon Davidson and Nate Knapp were Honorable Mention All-NLC for Plymouth.

Goshen had its No. 1 doubles team of Logan Troyer and Luke Rush earn All-NLC while Hudson Kay was At-Large All-NLC and Evan Beck was Honorable Mention All-NLC.

Warsaw had Andrew Gauger take All-NLC at No. 3 singles and Justin Stout earn Honorable Mention All-NLC.

Concord’s Riley Huffer was All-NLC at No. 2 singles and Will Boyer At-Large All-NLC. Elkhart Memorial’s Stephen Tefft and Jon Bailey were both Honorable Mention All-NLC, as was Northridge’s James Dugle.

In Girls Cross Country, Warsaw and Northridge dominated the standings, and subsequently, landed most of the All-NLC awards. The Tigers won the round robin at 7-0 and then took the NLC meet by one point over Northridge. Mia Beckham, Anna Craig, Hannah Dawson, Allison Miller and Brooke Rhodes all were named All-NLC for Warsaw while Northridge had Mackenzie Adams, Morgan Blyly, Mariah King, McKenzie Love and Jenna Miller all named All-NLC.

Concord’s Anna Nisen slipped in as the only other female runner to take an All-NLC nod.

Warsaw’s Claire Kehler and Charlene Orr both earned Honorable Mention All-NLC nods, Orr not even running in the conference championships. Completing the Honorable Mention All-NLC list were Northridge’s Molly Campbell, Concord’s Vanessa Steiner, Goshen’s Ariana Perez-Diener and NorthWood’s Erica Stutsman.

Warsaw head coach Scott Erba was named Coach of the Year.

In Boys Cross Country, Warsaw again earned the right to boast of a lengthy list of award winners after a 7-0 round robin and championship meet win. Zeb Hernandez, Owen Glogovsky, Lucas Howett, Xavi Ramirez and Jon Beres all were named All-NLC and Jim Mills was named Coach of the Year for the Tigers.

Northridge finished second in both formats and had Logan Riffell, Conner Sandt and Mitchell Schrock all earn All-NLC while teammates Blake Mawhorter and Hunter Moore were Honorable Mention All-NLC.

Goshen’s Juan Perez and Jason Barahona along with NorthWood’s Ryan Price were all All-NLC performers while Concord’s Salvador Escamilla, NorthWood’s Emanuel Olvera and Elkhart Memorial’s Mytchell Sellers were all Honorable Mention All-NLC.
