Lester B. Worrick

Lester B. Worrick, 92, Columbia City, died at 8:02 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne.
He was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Whitley County, a son of the late Wilbert and Carrie (Rhoades) Worrick. His formative years were spent in Union Township, Whitley County where he graduated from Union Township High School.
On April 9, 1944, he was united in marriage to Joy M. Taylor. They made their home in Union Township, Whitley County. In 1997, the couple moved to Westgate, Columbia City and 2005 to their present home. Mrs. Worrick died April 8, 2014.
A career farmer, he also worked with the Raber Elevator. He drove a school bus for Whitley County Schools in Union Twp for over 20 years. After his retirement from farming, he worked with More Farm Store setting up new equipment.
He attended First Church of God. His memberships included the American Aberdeen Angus Association and Poled Dorset Association. He was very active in 4H as a member, parent and grandparent. He had a passion for growing flowers and took great pride in them.
Surviving are his three children: Jacqueline A. Worrick, Columbia City; Danny (Linda) Worrick, Columbia City; and Jill (Rick) Greene, Austin, Texas; six grandchildren: Christopher Worrick; Annette Minthorn; Nathaniel Worrick; Phillip Worrick; Renae Jordan; and Regina Wilson; seven great-grandchildren; and sister: Bernice Schrader.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
