Charlene Williams 89, Rochester, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at Peabody Retirement Community Health Center, North Manchester.
She was born on July 31, 1926, in Fulton County, the daughter of Urban Leonard and Edith (Baird) Jackson. On June 17, 1951 at the Fulton United Methodist Church, Fulton, she married Earl E. “Gene” Williams. He preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 2015.
Mrs. Williams had worked for Farmer’s and Merchant’s Bank, had been a switchboard operator for McMahan-O’Connor Construction for many years and retired from the Fulton County Drainage Board as secretary. She was a member of the Whippoorwill Community Church, Rochester, and had been a member of the Eastern Star in Fulton. In her spare time she enjoyed playing piano, often playing for her church, and caring for her family.
Survivors include her children: Rodney (Lisa) Williams, Stacy, Min.; Randy (Denise) Williams, Rochester; Ryan (Amy) Williams, Leesburg, Va.; grandchildren: Rhianna (Rob) Narhi, Lake Lynden, Mich.; Erin (Chris) Richards, White Bear Lake, Min.; Nicholas Williams, Morehead, Min.; Stephen Williams, Rochester; Robert (Samantha) Williams, Rochester; Melea Gibbs, Akron; Brittany (Shawn) Ryherd, Fairbanks, Alaska; seven great-grandchildren; and sister: Berdenia Ball, Ligonier. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-laws: Walter Ball Jr.; and Robert WIlliams.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev. Brian Sewell officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, and one hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton.
