INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Although the private sector saw job growth of 6 percent in June, the unemployment rate increased for the first time in nearly a year.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the June unemployment rate was 8 percent, up from 7.9 percent in May.

Unemployment in the Hoosier state is still below the national rate of 8.2 percent and as remained so for three consecutive months.
