COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County Sheriff’s Department has issued an advisory to residents regarding a phone scam.

Residents are being warned if a phone call is received from an individual stating federal taxes have not been paid and there is an arrest warrant out for your arrest, it is a scam.

Police are warning residents not to give out any personal informationt.

The Internal Revenue Service does not contact individuals in this matter.

Residents are also asked not o call 911 regarding the calls. The Columbia City Police and Whitley County Sheriff’s Departments are aware of the phone calls.
