Valley Volleyball Falls To No. 11 Rochester

Tippy Valley SportsROCHESTER – The Tippecanoe Valley volleyball team put up a strong showing Monday night.

The Vikings could not upset Class 3-A No. 11 Rochester though in Three Rivers Conference play.

The host Zebras closed out an undefeated league season by topping Valley 25-16, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18.

Rochester, which has won its last 16 matches. improves to 27-1 overall and finishes at 9-0 in TRC play. Valley drops to 17-9 overall and moves to 5-2 in league action. The lone loss for the Zebras was a 2-1 defeat to Andrean in a tournament.

Rochester wins the TRC championship at 9-0. Southwood currently sits in second place in the league standings at 6-1, followed by Maconaquah (6-2), Valley (5-2) and Whitko (5-3).

Abby Betten led the way for the Vikings with eight kills. Kayla Scott led the defense for Valley with nine digs.

Maddy Henninger had 16 assists for coach Mallory Eaton’s team. The foursome of Menninger, Shayleigh Shriver, Lexi O’Connell and Sophie Bussard each had one service ace.

The Valley junior varsity team won its match in two games.

Valley will host Whitko (18-8) on Wednesday night. Rochester will host Peru on Oct. 14.
