Elder, Wildcats Shut Out Squires
SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko posted a dominant performance Friday night to shut out Manchester, 35-0, in football at Whitko.
Whitko again piled up huge yards, stacking 491 – all on the ground – to flatten the Squires defense. Quarterback Garrett Elder had a field day dicing up the Manchester secondary, rushing 19 times for 300 yards and four touchdowns. Elder had scores of 24, 71, 35 and 6 to highlight his huge night. Elder only attempted two passes, one of which was intercepted.
Garrett Smiley added 67 yards on the ground, which included a two-yard score in the second quarter. Hunter Reed didn’t find the endzone, but had 27 rushes for 113 yards for the Wildcats.
Josh Shepherd led Manchester (0-7) with nine rushes for 111 yards. Bailey Ness threw for 103 yards and Keelan Norwood had six catches for 40 yards.
Conner Sherwin led Whitko with nine tackles while Quentin Moore paced Manchester with 11 stops.
Whitko (3-4, 2-3 TRC) will visit 7-0 Northfield next week while Manchester will host Rochester.
