Plymouth Too Much For Bremen

Plymouth SportsBREMEN – The Plymouth machine churns on in boys tennis. The Pilgrims had little trouble winning its 19th sectional title in a row with a 5-0 result against Bremen in the finals of the Bremen Boys Tennis Sectional Friday afternoon at Sunnyside Park.

The Plymouth scored read much like they have all season, with its singles all winning in straight sets. John Hunter at No. 1 singles continued his torrid play with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Bryce Devine. John Gerard was also solid at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Zac Burkholder. Tommy Holloway made it a singles sweep with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Carter Filchak at No. 3.

Plymouth’s No. 1 doubles team of Braydon Davidson and Nate Knapp were solid in a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Jacob Strehler and Josh Ukinski. Plymouth completed the court sweep, but needed three sets from its No. 2 doubles team of Nick Felke and Grant Clady in a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 triumph over Chandler Snyder and Bryce Sterling.

Plymouth will advance to the Culver Academy Regional this Tuesday to face Peru. In the other semi-final, Warsaw will take on Culver Academy. Action Tuesday will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Academy tennis facility.
