Kosciusko County Sheriff Rocky Goshert announces the hiring of a new deputy to the sheriff’s department roster. Deputy Sheriff Tom Waikel fills a vacancy within the sheriff’s department road patrol division.

Deputy Sheriff Waikel began his law enforcement career in 2005 as a reserve officer with the Milford Police Department. He was later hired as a full-time deputy marshal at the Syracuse Police Department.

Deputy Waikel attended Warsaw High School, Purdue University, and is a 2006 graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Waikel is a native of Kosciusko County.

Sheriff Goshert said Waikel was selected from a large group of excellent candidates and will be a great asset to the department as well as the citizens of Kosciusko County.
