SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Library has some nice spaces for people who need a quiet break to meet with other people or take a time out. While at the library, patrons have access to services such as free Wi-Fi, a copy machine, and tables to work at. The children’s department has a sailing boat for adventures.

Young adults have an art time where they help make decorations for the YA area and Halloween. Anyone interested in painting and crafting is invited to come to the meeting room for an hour at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29. No artistic experience is necessary to be able to enjoy creating with the group.

Toddler’s dance time meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, for a half hour of fun and movement with a variety of music and songs. Bethany Huffman, a staff member with ambitions of becoming a children’s book illustrator, is leading the group. A snack is included in the half hour of locomotion. Come to the library so that Huffman can have play-time with your children. This is a new monthly activity just in time to brighten the darker, cooler days.

Doctor Who fans are scheduled to have an exhilarating evening with the episodes dubbed The Exploding TARDIS and the Pandorica Opens. The evening with the Doctor is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30. Bingo will be played to find Roman mythology and Doctor Who themes while eating Roman food. The Wednesday meeting is the last in Season 5.

The library is bringing Lego building blocks in for a monthly Saturday program. Families are invited to drop-in at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, to complete a building set or improvise a free form Lego creation. The library staff will post a picture of the finished creations on Facebook.

All events are free and open to any interested people. The Syracuse Library may be contacted at (574) 457-3022.
