Dallas ‘Dal’ E. Ganger

Dallas GrangerDallas “Dal” E. Ganger, 91, Goshen, formerly of Elkhart, went home to be with Jesus, 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, surrounded by his family at Courtyard Healthcare of Goshen.

He was born June 28, 1924, in Goshen to Homer A. and Rosa L. (Graybill) Ganger. He married Barbara E. (Myers) Ganger on April 7, 1946, and she died Sept. 16, 2008.

Surviving are daughters: Nancy (Roger) Hartman, Goshen; Linda (James) Trotter, Edwardsburg, Mich.; sons: Ronald (Sandra) Ganger, Syracuse; Dennis (Martha) Ganger, GOshen; Rick (Tina) Ganger, Goshen; sister: Elizabeth “Betty” Davenport, Union, Mich.; brother: Max (Janice) Ganger, Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents; wife; sisters: Wilma Hamilton; Ruby Leer; and brothers: Chester; Delbert; and Verden “Bud” Ganger.

Dal worked in Receiving at Goshen Rubber for 17 years, retiring in 1988, and he also farmed. He was a member of the West Goshen Church of the Brethren; enjoyed gardening and fruit trees and volunteering for disaster work through the church. He was a compassionate and caring person and a great example to others.

Visitation will be 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, with the service following at 3:30 p.m. all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen. Pastor Norm Replogle of West Goshen Church of the Brethren will officiate. According to Dal’s wishes, his body was donated to science and burial will be at West Goshen Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the West Goshen Church of the Brethren or IU Health Goshen Hospital Hospice.
