Irish Move Up To No. 6 In AP Poll
SOUTH BEND – The Notre Dame football team jumped two spots to No. 6 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday.
The Irish moved to 3-0 on the season with a 30-22 home win over then No. 14 Georgia Tech on Saturday.
Georgia Tech fell six spots in the new polls to No. 20 in the country.
Three other future Irish opponents are ranked in the Top 25. Clemson, who Notre Dame faces in two weeks, is ranked No. 11, USC is now down to No. 19 (from No. 6) after losing to Stanford Saturday night and Stanford is back in the Top 25 at No. 21.
The Irish host UMass next Saturday before a trip to Clemson on Oct. 3.
The Big Ten holds the top two spots in the AP poll. Defending National Champion Ohio State remains ranked No. 1 after a narrow win over Northern Illinois Saturday and Michigan State moves up two spots to No. 2. TCU, Ole Miss and Baylor round out the top five.
