Joan V. Brown, 85, Warsaw, passed away at 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 in Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw.
On Jan. 25, 1930, she was born in London, England to Charles Samuel and Francis Louise (Hewitt) Hampton. She was united in marriage to Arnold Brown on June 21, 1953 in Warsaw. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1985.
Joan moved to Warsaw from England in 1952. She worked for Petro’s Restaurant then Rozella Ford Golf Course, Warsaw. She then worked for Holiday Inn for over twenty five years, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church and The Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary, Warsaw. She loved to sew and knit and enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them. She was proud of her British heritage and was a hard worker and dedicated to her job.
Joan is survived by four children, Steve (Judy) Brown, Warsaw; Michael (Lisa) Brown, Wapakoneta, Ohio; Tracey Grose, Warsaw; and Scott (Dawn) Brown, Warsaw; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, three brothers and her son-in-law, Alan Grose.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Visitation hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21 in the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s name to The Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary, Warsaw.
