Carter, KennethKenneth B. Carter, 84, North Manchester, died at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. He was born in Mullen, Nebr. to Charles Carter and Julia (McDuffee) Carter on Dec. 26, 1930.

Carter was a retired automotive technician and instructor, and was a member of Calvary baptist Church, Wabash.

He owned and operated Carter’s Automatic Transmission Clinic in North Manchester for 10 years. He was an automotive instructor at Ivy Tech, Ft. Wayne, for three years. He then was employed at Gripco in South Whitley for 13 years and owned Carter’s Sales and Service in North Manchester for several years.

He married Paline M. Hippensteel Aug. 4, 1950. She died Nov. 3, 2013.

Carter is survived by his sons: Mike Carter, Montpelier; Timothy (Julie) Carter, North Manchester; Rodney (Gloria) Carter, North Manchester; Gregory (Lisa) Carter, North Manchester, and one sister: Cleo Morris, Wabash.

He is preceded in death by two brothers: Arden Carter and Gene Carter; one sister: Alice Stoebner; one daughter-in-law: Donna Carter.

Carter’s funeral is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 at McKee mMortuary, 1401 SR 114 W., North Manchester. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate the funeral.

Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22 at McKee Mortuary.
