Board Ready To Tackle Building Project
AKRON — With a major building project looming for Akron Elementary School, Tippecanoe Valley-Akron School Building Corporation board of directors is ready to go.
The initial meeting took place at noon Thursday, Sept. 16. The first order of business was to elect officers. Orville Haney was chosen as president, with Chad Brouyette as vice president and assistant secretary and Karen Francis as secretary-treasurer.
Next, the board reviewed and approved bylaws, articles of incorporation and secretary and treasurer agreements.
TVSC Superintendent Brett Boggs made a brief comment that surveying will need to be done due to the need for drainage. He also noted the project is budgeted not to exceed $17,600,000. Haney made some calculations and expressed concerns over the amount, to which Boggs replied that a general rule of thumb in the beginning stages is to estimate high.
The next meeting will take place at noon Tuesday, Nov. 10.
