NorthWood Golfers Set Record In Win

NorthWood SportsMISHAWAKA – The NorthWood girls golf team warmed up for the conference tournament in style Wednesday night.

Led by Linnzie Richner, the Panthers set a new program record for a 9-hole match by firing a 161 team total in a win over host Mishawaka.

Richner earned medalist honors for the unbeaten Panthers with a 38 at the par 36 from nine at the Eberhart-Petro course.

The previous program mark was 165 set last season and matched by this year’s team.

Coach Adam Yoder’s squad, which is ranked No. 20 this week, will play in the Northern Lakes Conference Tournament Saturday at the Meadow Valley Golf Club in Middlebury.

NorthWood shot its record 161 and the host Cavemen shot a 227.

Madison Richner had a 40 and Summer Stillson a 41 for the winners. Mackenzie Weaver shot a 42 and Abby Slabaugh a 45 as NorthWood improved to 9-0.

Hope Cripe and Alaina Benjamin each had a 56 to earn medalist honors for NorthWood in JV play.

The Panthers, who won the NLC regular season title, will begin play Saturday at 9 a.m. in the conference tournament in Middlebury.
