Sheila Marie Bays, 75, of rural South Whitley died peacefully at her home at 11:24 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020.

She was born May 20, 1945, in Kosciusko County, Indiana a daughter of the late Willard J. and Eva J. (Redinger) Hively. She spent her formative years in the Atwood area where she attended Atwood High School.

On Dec. 28, 1958, she married Bill R. Bays. They have always made their home in rural South Whitley. Bill died Aug. 3, 2017.

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for the former Blue Bell, Columbia City and later Depuy, Warsaw.

She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her farm. Living on the farm, she enjoyed raising flowers and found relaxation mowing the grass. She is remembered for her cooking, preparing great meals for all her family to share.

She is survived by two daughters, Tammie Gibson, South Whitley and Tonya Boggs, Warsaw; three grandsons, Joe Gibson, Travis (Michelle) Boggs, and Tyler (Jenny) Boggs, and their children. Sheila is one of eleven siblings, and is preceded in death by son-in-law Fred “Butch” Boggs.

Pastor Glenn Hall will officiate a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday at South Whitley Cemetery, 7500 West St Rd 14, South Whitley. Arrangements are entrusted to Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
