Rebecca Mae Clifford
Rebecca Mae “Becky” Clifford, 67, Columbia City, died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2020, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, where she was admitted this past week.
She was born Feb. 10, 1953, in Columbia City, a daughter of Edward A. and Alice Joy (Bollinger) Bohnstedt. She grew up in Etna-Troy Twp. and graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1971.
On Nov. 24, 1973, she was united in marriage to Dick Leroy Clifford, Jr. at the Church of the Brethren by Rev. James Linton. They have always made their home in Columbia City. Dick died on March 3, 2002.
A great cook, she was employed for almost 40 years at Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City.
Her cooking skills included exceptional cakes. Learning her skills during her ten years in 4H, she went on to make intricate wedding cakes and other occasion cakes. Always quick with a joke, her good humor is missed. She played the piano and, in her senior years, enjoyed puzzle books.
She is survived by her daughter, Karianna M. Clifford-Oppy; a granddaughter, Annalis Oppy, both of Columbia City; her mother, Alice Bohnstedt, Columbia City; two sisters, Joyce (Anthony) Hiscutt, Columbia City and Cindy (Tom) McAtee, Churubusco; a brother, Jim Bohnstedt, Columbia City; a niece and five nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant twin sons, her father, Edward Bohnstedt, a brother-in-law, Steve Clifford, Sr. and a nephew, Chad Clifford.
The funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
Burial is at a later date at Eberhard Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
