Raymond Lewis Hartman, 95, Leesburg, passed away at 9:28 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2020, in his residence. Raymond was born Oct. 6, 1924, in New Salem, to Lewis and Gertrude (Ferveda) Hartman. He was the youngest of five children. 

He was united in marriage to Marilyn McCann in 1943. They were married for 69 years before she passed in 2012.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. During WWII he served for three years in the Army in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. 

He worked as a lineman for R.E.M.C. for 44 years. He enjoyed his very first plane ride at the age of 90 on one of the Honor Flights. Raymond was previously honored as the Veteran of the Month by the Kosciusko Chamber. He  was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #49, Warsaw. He was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church and Leesburg Fire Department.

Raymond loved jazz music especially Dixie Land jazz. He loved playing golf and proudly had a rare experience of two holes in one, with the last one being at age 79.  He also took great joy in reading western novels.

Raymond is survived by two sons, Kim (Becky) Hartman of Leesburg; Randy (Diana) Hartman of Warsaw; eight grandchildren, Sherri (Darrin) Lincoln of Leesburg; Kerri Hartman, Milford; Barry (Amy) Hartman of Las Vegas, N.V.; Lyn  (Ian) Crighton of Leesburg; Leslie Hartman of Tennessee; Justin (Zoe) Hartman of Twinsburg, Ohio; Zaccari (Emily) Kolanowski of Denver, Colo., and Christopher (Lanae) Kolanowski of Milford.  Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, son Larry, and great granddaughter Shantel.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. His funeral service will follow immediately at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel with Pastor Mike Beezley officiating.  Graveside service will follow immediately after the service at the Leesburg Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the American Legion Post#49, Warsaw.
