My Hoa Thi Gehlhausen, 71, New Carlisle, formerly of Syracuse, passed away at 1:11 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2020, at La Porte Hospital in La Porte. She was born on Aug. 1, 1948 in Saigon, Vietnam.
She grew up in Vietnam and attended public schools there. She was married on July 25, 1974, in Marion, to Richard J. Gehlhausen Jr. who preceded her on Oct. 21, 2003. She moved to North Webster and Syracuse area in 1974, and lived in Fort Wayne for a short time before moving to New Carlisle. She was a former co-owner and operator with her husband of North Webster Auto Parts for many years and formerly worked at Silgan Plastic in Ligonier for 11 years.
She formerly attended the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Syracuse.
She is survived by her daughter: Lisa Gehlhausen of Fort Wayne; son: Phil (Stephanie) Gehlhausen of New Carlisle; two granddaughters; sister, Ly (Allen) Young, Pasadena, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister.

**Due to the current, unprecedented guidelines limiting public gatherings because of the COVID-19 virus, there will be a private family visitation and graveside service at Mock Cemetery in North Webster. A public memorial service to celebrate her life will be scheduled at a later date.** Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster is in charge of arrangements.
