Ina Mae Ashley, 83, of South Whitley, passed away at 7:54 a.m. on Monday April 13, 2020 at Miller’s Oak Pointe, Columbia City.

Born on July 27, 1936, in Vicco, Ky., she was the daughter of James and Susie (Sumner) Burnett.

Ina attended Dilce Combs High School and graduated with the Class of 1954. On Dec. 3, 1961, Ina married Silas G. Ashley in Perry County, Ky. She was a homemaker for most of her life and loved caring for her family, in addition to decorating bird houses and puzzling in her free time.

Survivors include her children William (Sheryl) Ashley of Huntington, Timothy Ashley of Goshen, Greg Ashley and Rebecca (Richard) Holt, both of South Whitley; grandchildren, Derek Matteson and Hope (Joshua Williams) Holt; great-grandson Camden Matteson; sisters, Bertha Holliman of Connersville, Hazel Combs of Hazzard, Ky. and Oma Mullins of Amburgey, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Silas Ashley, siblings Ruby Lawson, Bryan Burnett, Elmer Burnett, Frank Burnett, Sherman Burnett, Dorothy Burnett, and half-sisters Pauline and Madalene.

Due to CDC’s large community gathering guidelines, a private funeral service will be held for Ina’s immediate family

Arrangements by DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Memorial gifts may be given to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. Flowers may also be sent to the funeral home.
