Charles “Verdon” Paul, 82, of Gilead, Indiana passed at 4:26 am, Monday, March 30, 2020 at Hickory Creek Heath Care of Peru, Indiana.

Verdon was born on Sept. 10, 1937 in Fulton County, Indiana to the late Charles Edison and Evelyn (Swope) Paul. He married on Nov. 25, 1958 in Gilead to Della Louise Damron, she survives. 

He had worked for the Miami County Highway Dept. for over 40 years.  He served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was a 1956 graduate of Gilead High School.  He had attended the Olive Branch Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, playing euchre, and spending time at the Gilead General Store with friends. He was known to have a good eye when mushroom hunting. Verdon was an avid I.U. Basketball fan and especially enjoyed the Bob Knight years.  

Survivors and place of residence:

Wife – Della Paul – Gilead.

Daughter – Diane and husband Brian Engel – Peru.

Son – Stephen and wife Evie Paul – Mexico.

Grandchildren – Shane, Jacqueline, Jessica, Grace, and Katelynn 

Great Grandchildren – Owen and Quilynn

Sisters – Bonita Fritz – Kokomo, Marilyn Snyder – Peru.

Step Brothers – Terry Paul – Conn., Danny Paul – Texas

Preceded in Death By:

 Parents – Charles Edison and Evelyn Paul

Following county, state, federal, and CDC guidelines private family services will be held at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, Indiana. Services will take place at a later date.

 Interment will take place in the Gilead Cemetery, Gilead.
