SYRACUSE – After a poor showing on the road last Thursday, Wawasee recovered with a much better output Monday in a 94.025-92.825 gymnastics win over visiting East Noble.

“We knew we were evenly matched because we had been following their scores,” started Wawasee head coach Nika Prather. “We told our team they needed to bring out their ‘A game’, hitting all of their skills. We still had a few falls on beam that hurt. But vault and floor saw us in the eights and nines.”

Wawasee welcomed Emma Ebright back to the varsity lineup after suffering a setback last Tuesday at Warsaw. The junior had just a pair of fourth-place scores, 8.1 on vault and 5.7 on bars, but the stability in the lineup seemed to push Wawasee. Talia Kuhl led the hosts on vault with an 8.55, and 8.5 on beam and 9.3 on floor from Aundreya Wegener helped the team stay ahead of the Knights.

Wegener and Kuhl went one-three in all-around scoring, Wegener posting 33.0 and Kuhl at 31.2.

East Noble was lead by Miah Hudson, who led vault at 8.75, 7.0 on bars and scored 32.2 in all-around to split the Warrior duo.

Wawasee will take on DeKalb Thursday night.
