WARSAW — A Syracuse man was recently arrested after battering a woman and confining her in a vehicle.

Josiah James Gall, 25, 9592 N. CR 300E, Syracuse, is charged with strangulation and criminal confinement, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.

On Jan. 28, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival at the scene, the Warsaw officer learned from a woman that she and Gall were arguing in a parked vehicle when an argument began. Gall allegedly slapped her in the face and confined her in the vehicle.

According to court documents, the woman said Gall also refused to let her leave her residence, threw her to the ground, pinned her down and choked her. The altercation only ended once officers arrived at the scene. The woman also said Gall placed one hand around her throat and his other hand on her mouth so she couldn’t be heard when she attempted to scream.

The officer spoke with Gall, who admitted to not letting the woman out of the vehicle after being requested to do so. He also admitted to throwing the woman onto a couch and pinning her down. Gall told the officer that he did place his hand over the woman’s mouth, but he could not remember if he put his other hand around her throat.

Gall is currently on pre-trial division for strangulation and domestic battery in a separate case.

In this case, Gall was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 28, with a $20,250 surety and cash bond.
