SYRACUSE — Syracuse Public Library hosts a screening of the documentary “Eva: A-7063” for the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, Jan. 27.
Eva Kor was a long-time Indiana resident, forgiveness and unity ambassador and a childhood survivor of Auschwitz concentration camp. The 75th anniversary of the camp’s liberation is Jan. 27, said a news release from Syracuse Public Library. 
“Eva: A-7063,” produced by WFYI IndianapolisPBS, is a documentary distributed to all public and school libraries. The celebration of this remarkable woman is available for home viewing from the Syracuse Public Library
The Syracuse Library is starting the tenth year of being in the EvergreenIndiana system. Also, close to home is the tenth year of the Tour des Lakes bicycle ride through Kosciusko County. The bicycle played an important role in womens independence and 2020 is the one-hundredth anniversary of the end of suffrage and the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment giving women the right to vote.
  • April is the 50th year for Earth awareness with Earth Day. Watch for programs at the library that highlight sustainability and recycling. A literary recognition that is special this year is the 42nd celebration of Towel Day in honor of Douglas Adams and “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.”
  • Doctor Who group is watching Season 8 this winter. They meet on WednesdayJan. 29 at 6 p.m. for themed food and to create a Who Clue game. New fans are encouraged to stop in. 
  • Anime, Japanese animated films for teens, is meeting on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. Teens snack and campaign for their favorite characters.
  • The Food from Fiction book club is reading “The Joy Luck Club” by Amy Tan for the Feb. 13 meeting. Copies are available at the Syracuse Library.
