Dan Van Lue, 67, of Syracuse, passed away on Jan. 9, 2020, at Goshen Hospital. He was born on Aug. 19, 1952, in Tipton, to John & Eloyce (Brinegar) Van Lue. On Jan. 2, 1972, he married Barb Klenke who survives.

He was a longtime area resident, having resided in Syracuse since 1962. Graduating from Wawasee High School in 1970. While in high school, He worked at Wawasee Electronics for Dick and Jack Maresh becoming their first employee.  After high school graduation, he attended IUPU Fort Wayne, graduating with a degree in electronics, his lifelong hobby. He continued to work at Wawasee Electronics eventually becoming the President. The opportunity arose to open up a Radio Shack Franchise to which he, his wife and children owned and operated since 1979 in Syracuse, Nappanee, and Goshen.  Throughout his career in electronics, he continually operated Electro-Net/Radio Shack, incorporating services such as electronic repair, satellite/antenna TV installation, cell phone service, and the Video Connection.

Dan was a past President and Paul Harris Fellow as a longtime member of the Syracuse-Wawasee Rotary Club. He was active in scouting his whole life, having attained the rank of Eagle Scout at Syracuse Boy Scout Troop 28, now Troop 728. He was a Cub Master of Pack 3828 for over 15 years. Dan was instrumental in the Rotary Scout Cabin which serves as the home lodge for Boy Scout Troop 728. Dan also was passionate about the Town of Syracuse, which he served on the Town Redevelopment Committee.

Dan is survived by his wife, Barb Van Lue, of Syracuse; four sons,  Jeremy (Shawna) Van Lue, of Syracuse, Jamie Van Lue of Syracuse, Jody (Kristen) Van Lue of Allen, MI, and Justin Van Lue of Syracuse; one daughter, Krista (Zac) Conley, of Cromwell; nine grandchildren and 3three great-grandchildren; three siblings, J. David (Fran) Van Lue, of Syracuse, Doug (Marcia) Van Lue, of Nicholasville, Ky.; one sister, Dianne (Dick) Moake, of Fort Wayne, and Mother, Eloyce Van Lue, of Goshen.

He was preceded by his father, and one grandson, Beckett Van Lue (Bumble B.).

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, at the Eastlund Funeral Home in Syracuse. Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Syracuse-Wawasee Rotary Foundation for further projects at the Syracuse Scout Lodge/Woods.
