Cory Gene Arndell, 39, of Claypool, passed away at 6:40 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born on May 23, 1980, in Evansville, to Diana Lynn (Pearcy) Scherzer and Kelly Gene Arndell. 

Cory was a 1998 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School in Akron. He attended IPFW in Fort Wayne for one year. He grew up in Kosciusko County, and throughout his life, he worked as a chef at various restaurants until his retirement due to illness. Cory will be remembered for being an amazing artist, for his adventurous heart, his kind spirit, and that he never met a stranger. He was dearly loved by his family and they were by his side when his tired body said good-bye. He loved life and he especially loved his family. In his short life, he left a lasting impression on the hearts of his family and friends. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother and stepfather: Diana Lynn and Gene Scherzer, Claypool; father: Kelly Gene Arndell, California; two brothers: Adam Arndell, Warsaw; Ryan (Chelsea) Scherzer, Noblesville; and his sister: Megan (Nate) Wills, Anderson. Cory also leaves behind his three sons: Austin Arndell, North Manchester; Lennon Hale, Fort Wayne; Carter Arndell, Fort Wayne; three daughters: Akayla Day, Fort Wayne; Lily Arndell, St. Augustine, Fla.; Averie Arndell, Fort Wayne; three step-sons: Corben Zelt, St. Augustine, Fla.; Kareem Kubisty, Fort Wayne; and Kamron Mitchell, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.            

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Cory’s life with a memorial service at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Denny Wilson. A private burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana.
