
PIERCETON – A driver was injured in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday morning south of Warsaw.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m., emergency personnel was dispatched to the intersection of Packerton Rd and 400 S for a reported collision.
A red 2007 Dodge Journey driven by Nicole Smith, 36, of Pierceton, was traveling north on Packerton Road, approaching CR 400S when the Journey failed to stop at CR 400S and continued across the roadway. The vehicle then struck a stop sign, drove and into an embankment and struck a tree.
Heavy fog was present at the time of the crash.
Firefighters extricated Smith from the vehicle. A juvenile who was a passenger in the backseat was not injured.
Smith was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital by ambulance with a complaint of pain.
The Winona Lake Police Department, Pierceton Police Department, Indiana DNR, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Lutheran EMS, Claypool Fire Department and the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory responded to the scene.
