MILFORD — The Milford Public Library will be closed for Christmas on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25. The library will re-open at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26. The library will also be closed for New Year’s on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and Wednesday, Jan. 1. The library will re-open at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, Angel Angie from Silly Safaris brought Archie the reindeer to Milford’s Community Building. This was the fifth year that Silly Safaris has partnered with the library to entertain young and old with a live reindeer. Of course, Archie was the main attraction. However, Angel Angie had a few other furry friends, including Paco and Nugget the prairie dogs; Snowball, a rabbit; Snow White, a chicken; and Blizzard the lizard.

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the library had a Christmas story time event. Kids had fun making handprint  reindeer. They also frosted and decorated sugar cookies while listening to Christmas stories. Santa and Mrs. Claus dropped in for a surprise visit. Mrs. Claus read stories to the children and Santa got to talk to them and ask what they wanted for Christmas.

This year, the winter adult reading program is “Imagine Your Story.” Adults 18 and older are welcome to sign up at the adult circulation desk of the library. For each audiobook listened to or book read, participants can enter their name into a weekly drawing for a prize. The winter reading program begins on Jan. 2 and ends on March 31. No library card is needed to participate.
