She was born on April 26, 1926, in Culver, to the late Daniel and Eva (Myers) Burkett. She married on Aug. 13, 1949, in Rochester, to Kenneth R. Walters, who preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2018.
She had been a cook for Akron School, retiring after 25 years as well as being a homemaker. She graduated from Argos High School in 1944. She had been a member of the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church for many years. She always loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking golf cart rides. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre.
Survivors include three daughters: Debbie (John) Gray, Akron; LuAnn (Stan) Tennant, Warsaw; and Lisa (Jerry) Kipker, Warsaw; five grandchildren: Lori Busenburg, Jeff Gray, Mindy Bernicky, Brad Tennant and Brian Tennant; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Devon Burkett.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Butch Troke officiating.
Burial will take place following the service in the Akron Cemetery, Akron.
Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
