Fred D. Weagley
Fred D. Weagley, 80, Claypool, and formerly of Marion, passed at 8:40 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, at his residence
He was born on April 11, 1939, in Marion, to Richard and Velma (Martin) Weagley. He married on April 17, 1981, in Celina, Ohio, to Darlene Bertie Pence, who preceded him in death on July 1, 2018.
Fred had owned a couple full service Shell Stations in the Marion until 1980. He then was elected Mayor of Marion for one term ending in 1983. He then was an instructor for CDL license and traveled the state for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles retiring after 31 years.
He was a graduate of Marion High School in 1957. He served his country in the National Guard from 1957 to 1964. He had been a member of the NRA, the Warsaw American Legion Post 49, and the Beaver Dam Lake Conservation Club. He served as the president of the Marion Jaycee’s in years past. He was known as a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and was an avid supporter of the Trump Campaign.
He is survived by his daughters: April (Toby) Ailes, Fairmount; Jan (Dale) Moyers, Lakeland, Fla.; Amy Weagley, Marion; son, Timothy K. (Tammy) Weagley, Jonesboro; step-son: Brad Haskell, Marion; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two on the way; one great-great-grandchild on the way as well; siblings: Richard (Beverly) Weagley and Christina Corye, Jim and Margie Weagley, Daniel and Cindy Weagley; daughter-in-law, Sue Haskell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a step-son, Mike Haskell.
Following Fred’s wishes no services will be held at this time.
