Alan Leslie Chambers, 71, Plymouth, passed away at 7:20 a.m., Dec. 15, 2019, at his residence following an illness since August. On Feb. 11, 1948, in Tulsa, Okla. he was born to Bill and Lorraine (Gossett) Chambers. He moved to Indiana in 1999, having been born and raised in Oklahoma.
On May 29, 1969, he married Toby (Bankston) Chambers, sharing 50 years of marriage this year.
Alan was a retired pastor.
Alan served his country in the United States Army from June 7, 1967. He was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and served in Vietnam from May 1, 1968, to April 29, 1969. On June 5, 1970, SP5 Chambers received his Honorable discharge. He was a member of New Song Church, Plymouth, Indiana.
Alan was a graduate of McClain High School, Tulsa, Oklahoma class of 1966; and a graduate of Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
Alan is survived by his wife: Toby Chambers of Plymouth; sons: Richard Chambers and wife Hollie of Rochester; and Justin Chambers and wife Jennifer of Plymouth; eight grandchildren: Caleb, Isaac, Isaiah, Elijah, Grace, Joy, Delight, and Faith; mother, Betty Chambers of Ketchum, Okla. brothers: Bill Chambers and Gary Hitchcock; sisters: Ruth Ann Bowers, Sandy Boisseau, and Janet Males
He is preceded in death by his Parents; Brother Jimmy Hitchcock; Sisters Sharon Spencer and Jackie Antle
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Dec. 19, at New Song Church, 1292 Baker St., Plymouth. Funeral Services will follow the visitation on Thursday Dec. 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Justin Chambers and Richard Chambers officiating. Military Honors will follow at the church with the United States Army Honor Guard and Plymouth Legion, VFW, and DAV conducting Military Honors.
