Warsaw Man Killed In Car-Train Accident Near Ligonier
LIGONIER — A Warsaw man died in a car-train accident near Ligonier late Wednesday.
William Sanford, 41, of Warsaw, was pronounced dead after the Amtrak train struck his car at the Perry Road crossing northwest of Ligonier.
The accident happened shortly before 11 p.m.
Sanford’s 2008 Mercury Milan was westbound on Perry Road when he attempted to cross the tracks in front of an oncoming Amtrak train.
No other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
