WARSAW — The Warsaw Police Department is advising the public, especially those who work jobs that involve accepting money, of a local counterfeiter.

On Dec. 2, several local businesses received counterfeit $100 bills. According to the WPD, there are two details that can be spotted on these counterfeit bills. The magnetic strip is on the wrong side of the bill. If the bills are also held up to light, the watermark shows Alexander Hamilton, not Benjamin Franklin.

Currently, all of the fake bills have DF45248991A printed on them.

Anyone who receives what appears to be a counterfeit bill is asked to call police at (574) 372-9511.

Currently, all of the counterfeit bills have the same number printed on them.
