WINONA LAKE — “Christmas in the Village: One Starry Night,” a gala choral and instrumental holiday concert featuring Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass, will be performed this Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4:30 and 7 p.m. in the Winona Heritage Room in Winona Lake.

“One Starry Night” is a joint effort featuring The King’s Brass, Lakeland Community Choir, Grace College Lancer Chorus, Lakeland Youth Chorale (a total of about 70 singers), and the Symphony of the Lakes. Tickets, at $10 each, are now on sale at the Wagon Wheel box office, online at www.wagonwheelcenter.org, and will also be available at the door, said a news release from Grace College.

Sponsored jointly by Grace College, The Village at Winona, Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, and Classic Arts Programs, the evening will include choral, orchestral and brass numbers focusing on the music of the holiday season. Among the 18 numbers on the program will be “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “Carol of the Bells,” selections from “Messiah,”  “Wexford Carol,” and other Christmas repertoire.

The orchestra and choir will be under the direction of Dr. Ardis Faber.

Special guests Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass provide innovative worship for young and old alike through the best in sacred brass music by Christian professionals from around the United States.

For forty years, The King’s Brass have performed over one hundred concerts each season with three trumpets, three trombones, a tuba, keyboards, and percussion.

Tim Zimmerman, founder and director of The King’s Brass, received his degree in trumpet performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and has performed with orchestras in the midwest and eastern U.S. Zimmerman was chairman of the music department at Grace College for 13 years and he has also taught at Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan Universities.

Dr. Judie Meulink, president of the Classic Arts Programs, describes the evening’s repertoire as a “rich sampling of choral, orchestral, and brass music which will set the tone for a worshipful and meaningful Christmas season.”

“We are delighted to have Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass return to join with our groups for this concert. They are unparalleled in their professionalism and quality,” said, Dr. Wally Brath, director of the worship arts program at Grace College.

A number of other programs are on the future schedule. They include the Young Artist Competition on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020; a choral concert on Sunday, Mar. 29; a light classics and pops concert by the Symphony of the Lakes on Saturday, April 18; and the traditional “Salute to America” pre-fireworks concert by the Symphony of the Lakes in the Winona Lake Park on Saturday, July 4 at 8 p.m.
