NAPPANEE — The two children who died in a Nappanee farming accident Tuesday, Nov. 19, have been identified.

Jaylin Hochstetler, 5, and his brother, Kenton Hochstetler, 3, died as a result of blunt force trauma from injuries they received Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a truck.

At about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, emergency responders from multiple agencies were dispatched to the area of 5370 W. CR 1350N, Nappanee.

Preliminary findings of the investigation indicate that a 1992 International semi-tractor with an attached grain trailer was being driven by Benjamin Tyler Sheets, 26, Nappanee.

Sheets began to pull forward after it was loaded with grain. As the tractor-trailer went into motion, the Hochstetler children, who were presumably underneath the trailer, were struck.

The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Team.
