SIDNEY — Three people were taken to hospitals Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26, after a two-vehicle accident on SR 14.
The accident happened at about 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of SR 14 and CR 400E.
The drivers were Jennifer Harris, 39, of 5839 South CR 400E, Warsaw, who was headed south on 400E, and Craig A. Wagoner, 46, of 10576 South CR 100E, Claypool, who was traveling east on SR 14.
Police found Wagoner’s 2017 Ford pickup off the road and south of the intersection with heavy front-end damage.
The car Harris was driving, a 2004 Pontiac Grand AM, was found a half-mile to the east on SR 14 with heavy damage on the passenger side, the report said.
The accident was initially described by dispatch as a hit-and-run accident.
A witness who lives nearby said he saw Harris’ car stopped at the intersection, but then drove into the intersection, backed up and then went forward again and was struck by the pickup truck. Another witness said Harris’ car pulled into the path of the pickup truck.
Harris and two passengers, Mazie Harris, 75, of West Channel Road, Warsaw, and Ashley Harris, 11, were taken to a hospital after complaining of pain through their entire bodies.
A passenger in Wagoner’s vehicle, Mellissa Flinn, 49, of Bouse Drive, Silver Lake, complained of pain but did not seek treatment.
Total damage was estimated up to $50,000.
