
Thomas D. “Tom” Mehl Sr., 85, Milford, passed away at 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, at his home. He was born on May 20, 1934, in Middletown, Ohio to Douglas A. and Elda (Smallwood) Mehl.
He attended Cromwell High School and lived most of his life in the Cromwell, Ligonier, Syracuse, and Milford areas. He was married on Dec. 31, 1951 in Ligonier, to Marcile V. “Marty” Yoder, who survives. He retired in 1984 from Serenade Foods in Milford after five years and was formerly employed at Barth Motor Homes in Milford for 20 years.
He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Goshen.
He is survived by his wife, Marty Mehl, Milford; two daughters: Vicki (Ray) Neff, Milford; and Gloria Jean (Dave) Moody, Milford; son, Thomas (Sue) Mehl Jr., Milford; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother: Jim (Dee Ann) Mehl, Ligonier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, great granddaughter, Lillian Grace; two sisters: Shirley Lower and Lois Ritter, and two brothers: Bill and David Mehl.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Lee Compson of the 1st Brethren Church in Milford officiating. Burial will take place in the Milford Cemetery.
