UPDATE: Two Injured In Crash On US 6 near CR 43

SYRACUSE — Two persons were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:56 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, on US 6 west of CR 43, north east of Syracuse.

Curtis Freese, 51, South Bend, complained of pain to the right leg and was taken to Goshen Hospital. Sarah Buttgen, 23, Kendallville, complained of pain to the head and was transported to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Freese was also cited for driving while suspended and operating a vehicle with an expired plate.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office reports Freese was traveling east on US 6, west of CR 43 in a 1994 Honda Civic and struck the back of Buttgen’s stopped 2013 Ford Escape.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Turkey Creek Fire Territory.
