SYRACUSE — Helen A. Peterson, 85, Syracuse, formerly of Goshen, died at 7:42 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, at Goshen Hospital.

She was born April 15, 1934, in New Paris, to Charles H. & Marie B. (James) Kiefer. On Jan. 28, 1955, in Elkhart, she married James L. Peterson. He died Oct. 13, 1998.

Surviving are daughters: Lisa (Gary) Weber, Syracuse; Stacey (John) Brillhart, Goshen; son: James M. (Nancy) Peterson, Elkhart; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and three fur babies. 

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, brother, Merle Kiefer, sister, Dorothy Goon and her companion of many years, James Pearce, who died April 5, 2019. 

Helen was bookkeeper at Goshen Implement for many years. She attended Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church and First Brethren Church, New Paris. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Pastor Ruben Chupp will officiate. Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to Dogtown Resort, Middlebury.
