WARSAW — A Columbia City man faces charges after drugs were discovered in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Tyce James Johnson, 22, 712 Park Terrace Blvd., Columbia City, is charged with dealing in methamphetamine, a level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 3 felony; possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony; and possession of a narcotic, a level 6 felony. 

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Oct. 5, an officer with the Claypool Police Department noticed a black Ford SUV traveling west on Winona Avenue in Warsaw with an expired plate and conducted a traffic stop.

The following items were found inside the vehicle: a red plastic bag containing a crystal substance, two hypodermic needles, $324 in cash, two clear plastic bags containing a brown, rock-like substance, several unused plastic bags, one hand-rolled cigarette, vape cartridges containing THC and a black plastic bag marked “Krush.”

The contents of the red plastic bags field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 27 grams. The contents of the clear plastic bags field-tested positive for heroin and weighed less than 1 gram. 

Johnson was booked Oct. 5, on a $25,250 surety and cash bond.
