SYRACUSE — Work to repair a small water leak on Pickwick Road, Syracuse, has turned disastrous as a main water line has been broken resulting in low pressure or no water to homes and businesses, mainly south of the railroad tracks.

Mike Noe, town manager, stated they are working to shut off the water along with keeping water from going into the businesses in that area such as Hammers Pub–Grub and Dynamic Spine. “We don’t know the extent of the (water) loss,” said Noe who notated a boil order may need to be issued.

The break occurred when employees with the public works department were working to fix the small leak and the backhoe hit a water main.

Noe noted that businesses as far down as Taco Bell, south of Bowser Road, are without water. There have been reports of low pressure even at a few residences north of the railroad tracks.
