Goodwill Community Career Center, Warsaw October Events
WARSAW – The Goodwill Community Career Center recently announced upcoming events at its Warsaw location for the month of October.
The Goodwill Community Career Center offers monthly workshops that can be completed in increments, with assessments and certifications upon completion. The Warsaw Career Center encourages individuals to prepare themselves for a growing business and manufacturing world that demands more digital literacy and online/technology skills, said a news release from the Community Career Center.
No prior experience is necessary to participate in the following events.
- SAS Retail will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, and Tuesday, Oct. 8. Representatives will be available to interview, screen and recruit individuals for merchandising and stocking positions in local customer service, retail and grocery settings. SAS offers competitive benefits and pay, part-time shifts and set hours Monday through Friday starting at 6:30 a.m. The Goodwill Community Career Center encourages applicants to come prepared and dress professionally.
- Every Tuesday, from Oct. 1 – 29, The Beaman Home will hold outreach office hours at the Warsaw Career Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The organization seeks to connect survivors of trauma, domestic abuse and sexual assault with services at The Beaman Home. Services include counseling, support group, life skills, job skills and case management. All services are free of charge.
- The Goodwill Community Career Center will host open mock interviews for anyone to practice their interview skills. These practice sessions will prepare individuals for the types of questions that may be asked in a real interview and highlight their skill sets. Times are Wednesday, Oct. 9, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.; Wednesday, Oct. 16, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- A workshop on Microsoft Word basics will be offered from 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Oct. 10.
- The class introduces individuals to the Microsoft Word program and its components. Learn how to create and navigate through a document, as well as formatting and enchantment techniques. The class is taught through a self-paced system provided by North Start Digital Curriculum. All skill levels are welcome. Attendees can receive a Silver or Gold Level Certification based on competency.
- The Warsaw Career Center will offer digital skills training from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14.
- This opportunity offers everything from basic computer training to productivity tools like Microsoft Office and Google products, as well as foundational coding skills. The center will provide practice quizzes, assessments, self-paced tutorials and hands-on learning tools. Participants will receive a Bronze Digital Skills certification.
- David Reed from WorkOne will be at the Goodwill Community Career Center to provide information on Veterans Employment Services, from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17.
- Finally, the Goodwill Community Career Center will host an interactive Microsoft Word workshop with Kahoot from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29.
- Kahoot! is a game-based learning and trivia platform that the career center utilizes to review knowledge of basic Microsoft Word information. The platform can be accessed from a phone or a laptop. The activity uses a mix of visual aids and multiple-choice options regarding essential Word program functions and use. This simple, fun and easy to use platform will be an entry point into becoming a competent Microsoft Office user. Career Center representatives may review each question so that the individual will walk away with more knowledge. Participants will receive a 25% discount to the Goodwill Retail Store as well as a Silver or Gold Level Digital Skills certification.
