Kosciusko County

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following accidents:

1:18 p.m. Sept. 29, East CR 400 South near South Packerton Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Dylan D. Stillman, 28, Huffman Street, Winona Lake; and Rex A. Snyder, 59, North CR 125 East, Albion. Stillman was preparing to turn his vehicle left onto East CR 400 South when he pulled out into the road in front of Snyder’s vehicle. Stillman said that the tall corn at the intersection blocked his vision. Both vehicles collided. Damages up to $5,000.

2:38 a.m. Sept. 29, East CR 500 North near North Sullivan Road, North Webster. Driver: Dustin L. Davis, 48, South CR 700 West, Mentone. Davis was driving his vehicle east on East CR 500 North when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $25,000.

1:21 p.m. Sept. 28, North SR 15 near West Levi Lee Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Dennis E. Corl, 74, North Hasse Court, Syracuse; and Michael W. Mulldune, 32, West CR 100 South 200, Warsaw. Corl was driving his vehicle behind Mulldune’s vehicle. Mulldune stopped abruptly. Corl was unable to stop in time and his vehicle collided with the rear of Mulldune’s vehicle. Damages up to $5,000.

Sept. 27, East CR 650 North near North CR 650 East, North Webster. Driver: Collin D. Thomas, 18, East CR 650 North, Syracuse. Thomas was driving his vehicle west on East CR 650 North when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $5,000.

10:26 p.m.Sept 27, West US 30 near North SR 19, Etna Green. Driver: Callie W. Prater, West Old Road 30, Etna Green. Prater was driving his motorcycle east on US 30 West when he struck a cut out portion of the road in a construction zone. Prater was ejected from his motorcycle but was unharmed. Damages up to $2,500.

8:03 p.m. Sept. 27, South CR 500 West near West CR 1200 South, Silver Lake. Driver: Brooke Phillips, 31, West CR 1300 South, Silver Lake. Phillips was driving her vehicle north on CR 500 West when a deer entered the roadway. Philips swerved her vehicle to avoid the deer and struck a utility pole. Damages up to $5,000.

6:12 p.m. Sept. 27, West Old Road 30 near North CR 875 West, Warsaw. Driver: Donald L. Bissett, 49, West Market Street, Pierceton. Bissett was driving his vehicle on east on Old Road 30 when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $2,500.

10:00 a.m. Sept. 25, North Huntington Street near West Main Street, Syracuse. Driver: Lynne L. Hamman, 76, CR 21, Goshen. Hamman said she was driving her vehicle north on North Huntington Street when she sideswiped another vehicle. Hamman circled back around to find the vehicle but it was gone before she returned to the location. Damages up to $2,500.

1:04 a.m. Sept. 23, South SR 13 near East CR 200 South, Pierceton. Driver: Ali C. Ross, 29, Singing Quail Court 332, Columbia City. Ross was driving in her vehicle south on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $1000.

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:

12:44 p.m. Sept. 29, North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Driver: Faron E. Erwin, 41, East Center Street 10, Warsaw. Erwin was backing his vehicle out of a parking space when his vehicle struck an unoccupied parked vehicle. Damages up to $1,000.

5:08 p.m. Sept. 27, East Center Street, east of North Lincoln Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Mary G. Burchett, 79, Sand Castle Drive B., Warsaw; Robert S. Hutchinson, 53, North Jefferson Street, South Whitley; and Ithica M. Gainey, 49, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Burchett was traveling east on East Center Street when she rear-ended Hutchinson’s vehicle. This caused Hutchinson’s vehicle to rear-end Gainey’s vehicle. Burchett complained of chest pain as a result of the accident. Two juvenile passengers in Burchett’s vehicle complained of chest pain. A passenger in Hutchinson’s vehicle, Connie F. Chandler, 57, Pierceton, complained of back pain. All occupants of Burchett’s vehicle and Chandler were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $25,000.
