WHITLEY COUNTY — A bicyclist from Winona Lake sustained internal injuries after being hit on US 30 at about 12:43 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.

Jacob B. Grimm, 28, Kings Highway, Winona Lake, was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. His condition was listed as critical.

Whitley County Sheriff’s Office reports the accident occurred near US 30 at CR 400W.

Jose Juan Rodriguez Jr., 32, Third Street, Fort Wayne, was traveling east on US 30 in a 2012 Chevrolet SUV when his vehicle struck Grimm on the bicycle. Grimm was traveling east in the passing lane of US 30 for an unknown reason. Rodriguez told police he did not see the bicyclist until the collision occurred.

Rodriguez was not injured.

The collision is under investigation by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department.
