Kosciusko County

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following accidents:

8:59 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, East Oldfield Drive, near East Lakeview Trail, Leesburg. Drivers: Rebecca D. Noftz, 40, East Lakeview Trail, Leesburg; and Tomaz P. Bocianski, 39, East Paddock Drive, Leesburg. Bocianski was driving his vehicle southwest on Oldfield Drive, approaching the intersection of Lakeview Trail. Noftz made a wide right turn with her vehicle into the path of Bocianski’s vehicle, causing Bocianski to attempt to stop his vehicle. The front driver’s side of Noftz’s vehicle collided with the front driver’s side of Bocianski’s vehicle. Damages up to $10,000.

7:52 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, South Packerton Road, north of East CR 200S, Warsaw. Drivers: Kole M. Keith, 22, South High Street, Silver Lake; and Fernando Vega, 36, East Joshua Drive, Warsaw. Keith was driving his vehicle north on South Packerton Road when he fell asleep at the wheel. Keith’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with Vega’s vehicle. Vega said he was unable to avoid the collision. Keith was taken to the hospital by personal vehicle after complaints of foot pain. Two passengers in Vega’s vehicle, Jose L. Vega and Hernando Velazquez, went to the hospital by ambulance after complaints of shoulder pain. Damages up to $10,000.

9:32 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, East Levi Lee Road, east of North Old SR 15, Warsaw. Driver: Brianna L. Blue, 21, East Levi Lee Road 180, Warsaw. Blue was driving her vehicle east on Levi Lee Road when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $5,000.

Syracuse

Officers with the Syracuse Police Department responded to the following accident:

6:38 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, East CR 1400N, east of North CR 560E, Syracuse. Driver: Charles A. Stump, 55, North Eastshore Drive, Syracuse. Stump was driving his vehicle east on CR 1400N when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $2,500.

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department responded to the following accidents:

5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, SR 15, near East Main Street, Warsaw. Driver: Gregory A. Hatcher, 39, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Non-driver: Sparkie D. Haag, 65, Lake City Highway 105, Warsaw. Hatcher said he was in the right turn lane at the intersection of Main Street and SR 15. Hatcher said he checked for pedestrians or cyclists but did not see any. Hatcher pulled his vehicle forward to turn right and struck Haag while Haag was traveling on his bicycle through the crosswalk. Hatcher said he had a red light at the time of the attempted right turn. Haag fell to the ground and suffered injuries to his lower right leg and his left elbow. Haag was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital by ambulance. Damages up to $10,000.

5:42 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, East Center Street, east of Scott Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Tina R. Owens, 42, East CR 400N, Pierceton; and Richard S. Thomas, 67, Robson Road, Winona Lake. Owens was driving her vehicle through the intersection of Center Street and Scott Street but did not notice traffic stopped abruptly in front of her vehicle. While attempting to stop, Owens’ vehicle collided with the rear of Thomas’ vehicle. Damages up to $5,000.

3:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, Logan Street, south of Wilson Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Francisco Nunez, 49, South Meadow Drive, Warsaw; and Josh J. Carpenter, 39, Logan Street, Warsaw. Nunez said he was parked in his vehicle in a driveway close to the roadway on Logan Street. Carpenter backed into Nunez’s parked vehicle, causing damage to the rear bumper on the passenger side. Damages up to $5,000.

3:55 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, US 30, east of SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: Kristen N. Werling, 30, North SR 15 1, Warsaw; and Kathleen M. Hartzell, 68, Echo Street, White Bear Lake, Mich. Werling said she was merging with traffic in her vehicle on US 30. Werling’s vehicle changed lanes to the left and struck the rear of Hartzell’s vehicle. Officers noted minimal damage to both vehicles. Damages up to $2,500.

11:05 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 590 W. CR 300N, Warsaw. Drivers: Brittney P. Hershberger, 24, East Crooked Mile Road, Larwill; and Erica L. Hyde, 29, North West Street, Warsaw. According to Hyde, she was traveling in her vehicle south out of Kohl’s parking lot when Hershberger drove her vehicle out of a parking spot and struck Hyde’s vehicle. Hyde complained of left hip pain but declined EMS. Damages up to $5,000.

Fulton County

Officers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:

3:29 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, Olson Road and CR 500W. Drivers: Dorothy M. Smook, 82, Rochester; and James D. Mathias Jr., 61, Rochester. Smook’s vehicle collided with Mathias’ vehicle.

5:36 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, East Lucas Street, Rochester. Driver: Jacob K. Hoffman, 38, Rochester. Hoffman’s vehicle struck a deer.

6:33 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, CR 900E, Akron. Driver: Dominea Trigg, no age or address available. Trigg’s vehicle was struck by a deer.

9:11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, SR 17 and SR 14. Driver: Lance R. Keller, 20, Kewanna. Keller’s vehicle struck a deer.

12:19 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, East CR 450N, Rochester. Driver: Douglas N. Betten, 40, Rochester. Betten was operating a tractor that struck a 7-year-old. The 7-year-old was flown to an area hospital by Samaritan Air Ambulance.

4:07 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, Pearl and Toner, Kewanna. Driver: Michelle L. Ervin, 39, Winamac. Ervin was operating a vehicle that struck a pedestrian. No further information was available.
