WARSAW — A North Manchester man was recently arrested after allegedly entering a home with a knife and claiming to be with the FBI.

David Ryan Oaks, 38, 12600 S. SR 13 No. 42, North Manchester, is charged with residential entry and impersonating a public servant, both level 6 felonies; and public intoxication, a class B misdemeanor.

On Sept. 11, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a man entering a residence uninvited with a knife. When the officer arrived at the scene, he saw a man, later identified as Oaks, laying in the grass. Oaks was taken into custody while the incident was investigated.

According to court documents, a man said he was cooking dinner at his residence when he turned around and saw Oaks standing in his living room with a knife. Oaks told the man, “It’s okay, I’m with the FBI.” Three children were at the residence during the incident.

The officer searched Oaks’ person and found a black pocketknife. Oaks agreed to take a portable breath test, which registered .292 BAC.

Oaks was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 11, with a $5,250 cash bond.
